According to the public media, exhibitors, visitors and numerous country delegations, GreenTech Amsterdam once again proved to be the ideal venue for product launches and quality meetings. The remarkable 7% growth in the number of visitors to 11,500 (compared to 2022) underlines the growing interest and investments in greenhouse technology. GreenTech took place from 13 to 15 June at RAI Amsterdam.

The fair was attended by a total of 11,500 professionals from 128 (2022:121) countries. The top 5 countries represented were Germany, China, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Korea and the Netherlands. Some more facts: 60 % of the booth space is already booked for 2024, more than 100 knowledge sessions with 220 speakers in 3 theatres were fully attended, 17 country delegations visited the show floor and many sub-events took place during the three days, such as Meet the Xpert and the Power.

Mariska Dreschler, Director Horticulture – GreenTech Global: “GreenTech is created as the home base for the global horticultural community. It brought together visionary minds and innovative technologies that will shape the future of sustainable food production. Yes, we have grown in the number of visitors (11,500) and exhibitors (540). But even more importantly, also in quality, due to the visitor pricing strategy we adjusted to set a threshold. Growers, investors and traders were eager to discover, absorb knowledge and connect with each other. Let’s continue to build on this success and drive the horticulture industry even further forward!”.

During the event, various forums of global interest also took place, where participants were able to attend and catch up on hot topics such as breaking the greenhouse roof, evaporative energy and creating resilient ecosystems.

GreenTech Amsterdam 2024

The next edition of GreenTech Amsterdam will take place on Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 June 2024 at RAI Amsterdam. The exhibition is a global meeting place for all horticultural technology professionals with a focus on the early stages of the horticultural chain and the current issues faced by growers. GreenTech is supported by AVAG, the industry association for the greenhouse technology sector in the Netherlands.

Some of the most outstanding technologies

Among the large number of companies present at the event, from tecnologiahorticola.com we had the opportunity to visit the stands, talk to the protagonists and know in first person, the reasons why they were there.

Biobest Group: Once again, the Belgian company, present in more than 70 countries worldwide, won the Innovation Award with its innovative product Trap-Eye™, a sticky trap with a wireless system capable of identifying and counting the insects present in a specific area of the greenhouse.

ErfGoed: The ErfGoedFloor consists, among other things, of a distribution tube covered with a solid layer and a special fabric, which allows watering and at the same time cooling or heating the soil without wetting the plants. The distribution pipe can also be connected to an air handling unit. The cooled and/or heated surface, combined with the active air, creates a perfect microclimate for the development of the crop.

Lenzeel: The DIPLO robot, a fully automatic leaf trimmer and picker for cucumber cultivation, which saves at least 60 % labour.

Green Simplicity: Dutch company and developer of the Dry+ Climate control unit, which enables climate control in horticultural installations such as greenhouses. The Dry+ Climate unit offers cooling, dehumidification and heating of the air, creating an ideal environment for the development of the crop and with a circular energy system that allows the reuse of everything that is generated.

Skytree: Winners of the concept award with their MODEL 5 product, the innovative technology allows CO2 to be captured directly from the air and then used commercially or stored permanently, providing a sustainable alternative to the current fossil fuel based CO2 supply chain and lowering the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere.
